Luminous is as good, or even better as was promised.” – EMBR co-founder Daryl Klingaman

The Backstory

Who is EMBR?

Inventory management should not become an ominous chore for any small business. But for EMBR, a company that specializes in selling rings made from durable materials like tungsten and Damascus steel, reviewing inventory took over 360 hours for each instance. A simple solution would not have helped because EMBR’s inventory was complex.

EMBR is a company that specializes in selling minimalist and modern rings for men and women, including packages for couples. They offer a variety of ring styles, mainly focusing on durable materials like tungsten. Their products are designed to be both beautiful and long-lasting, reflecting the company's commitment to quality and style.

The Challenge

Too Many Components

Klingaman admitted that inventory management before Luminous had too many moving parts and required too much manual labor. The company relied on Shopify, which was “constantly inaccurate, so we really did not rely on it.” Furthermore, the company used Google Sheets and Quickbooks, but none of these systems helped employees manage inventory correctly. Because these kits required manual intervention, employees often made mistakes.

While EMBR looked for solutions, the small business found systems that claimed to make a difference, but discovered that implementation did not go well. These systems could not handle kits, SKUs, or other parts that EMBR needed to manage as a part of its inventory.

The Solution

A System That Addressed All Complexities

When EMBR implemented Luminous, a software to handle inventory, “the team is pumped,” said Klingaman.  Not only did Luminous meet the complex demands of EMBR, but the Luminous team also uploaded all the kits to the software as a part of the implementation. Because of this system, EMBR was able to manage:

Because of all the elements that EMBR used in Luminous, the company could eliminate the outdated manual processes that were used previously.

What EMBR Loved About Luminous

“It was very clear that Luminous would support our slightly complicated needs from an inventory standpoint." – EMBR co-founder Daryl Klingaman

EMBR loved the hands-on approach to implementation that Luminous provided. Klingaman recalled that Luminous employees came to the business and helped EMBR get an accurate inventory count from the start of implementation – “a super unique approach.” In addition, the company appreciated the following benefits:

  • Better Accounting
  • Quick Weekly Counts In Inventory
  • Cost Savings In Inventory
  • Accurate POs And No Mistakes
  • Hands-On Training

The support team at Luminous really made a difference for EMBR. In previous attempts to implement other systems, Klingaman recounted terrible interactions with customer support–sometimes never even getting a response. Luminous made sure every question was answered in a timely manner.
